IWU Signs Div I transfer

May 28, 2008

MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University Men's Basketball team has announced the signing of Landon Adler for the 2008-2009 season. Adler is a 6-9, 240 pound forward from Decatur, Indiana.

Adler played the 2007-2008 season at NCAA Division I Florida Gulf Coast University of the Atlantic Sun Conference. In just over 20 minutes per game, Adler averaged 11.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. After scoring 24 points and pulling down 12 rebounds against Florida International in December 2007, Adler was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week. As a sophomore at Florida Gulf Coast, Adler recorded 10.7 points and pulled down 7.0 rebounds in 19 minutes per game. He recorded eight double-doubles on the year and twice scored 20 points or more in a game.

Adler played his high school career at Adams Central for Coach Aaron McClure. He finished his senior season 13th in the state in scoring (23.3 PPG) and first in rebounding (13.1 RPG). Adler grabbed a career high 27 rebounds in one game, which was the most of any player in the state that season. Adler finished his career as the all-time leading scorer at Adams Central despite playing only three seasons on the varsity level. He was a three-time All-Conference selection and two-time All-State performer.

"We are excited for Landon to be able to finish out his career at Indiana Wesleyan University" says IWU Head Coach Greg Tonagel. "His tenacity on the boards along with his length and athleticism really fits our style of play. We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead!"

Adler is the son of Dale and Cynthia Adler. He has one brother, Jerod, who is currently playing professional basketball in Europe and one sister, Heather, who is enrolled in optometry school at Cal-Berkley. Adler comes to IWU with one season of eligibility remaining.
